Thermaltake SuperORB Review Ahh The SuperORB... giant among heatsinks everywhere, round and strange in design, and holder of the best "price vs. performance" title for a heatsink. The super orb is exactly like it's name, it performs well in just about any configuration as long as you can fit it into your case! Being over 70mm in height it is one of the tallest heatsinks to ever cross our path...
Thermaltake has been around for awhile now, and have managed to stake themselves out a very respectable place in the global heatsink market. Their conical finned heatsinks first made waves back in the day with the golden orb. Later versions; blue orb, chrome orb, etc... have all proven too generate as much interest as cooling prowess. Other than size issues, it is rare to find any review which doubts the price performance capabilities of these round and finned heatsinks of unusual design. The addition of a second fan has made the Super orb a hot commodity, but can the addition of one little fan make a difference? To find out we took our Orb for a test drive. However since the FEDEX guy had managed to destroy the top fan, we tested our Superorb with just one fan. How did it do? Could it compete with the likes of Coolermasters' dual heat pipe design, or Kingcoolers' copper fins? Let's find out!
