Acoustic Samples: Listen to this Heatsink!

The high RPM fan makes this heatsink a little loud. There is a growing separation of users who are either alright with their noisy computers, or ho just have to have zero noise. In this case, the CDK38 falls into the former. You can listen to this heatsink in operation for yourself by clicking on the headphones and playing the MP3 recording.

Sound Level Measurements:

Listening to the actual noise a heatsink makes allows you to hear what pure numbers alone cannot get across. To further emphasize FrostyTech's reliance on cold hard facts when evaluating a heatsink, we also take Decibel readings with a sound level meter. These results may be higher than the manufacturer's listed specs, but then again these are real world measurements.

A sound level measurement of 58.2 dB is nearing the upper level of what we typically see heatsinks produce. Keep that in mind as you get ready to read over the thermal test results if you are in the market for a low noise solution.
