360° View - Titan Hati TTC-NC15TZ Heatsink

The 120mm PWM fan on the Titan Hati TTC-NC15TZ heatsink spins at 2200RPM by default but can drop down to 800RPM if quieter operation is desired. A resistor is also supplied to reduce fan speed to 1300RPM. A standard 4-pin PWM motherboard header provides power. The slot in the base is for the multi-socket mounting bracket. With the fan removed you can see how the rubber fan posts slot into the aluminum fin stack. Extra fan posts are supplied so a rear 120mm fan (not included) can be installed.

Titan's TTC-NC15TZ heatsink stands 159mm tall, 129mm wide, 78mm deep with one fan. Its raw aluminum fins are press-fit over three 8mm diameter copper heat pipes lined in a simple row. The bottom fin is elevated 34mm for component clearance. The aluminum fins measure 0.3mm thick and are spaced 2.0mm apart. The aluminum/heatpipe base is 14mm thick.

The base of the Titan Hati TTC-NC15TZ heatsink measures 40x42mm in size and is machined flat. Three 8mm diameter U-shaped copper heatpipes run the full height of the 159mm tall heatsink. Two fans can be attached to the TTC-NC15TZ heatsink using the supplied rubber vibration absorbing fan posts; one front, one at rear in a push-pull configuration.

Base Finish and Flatness

Flipping a heatsink over to inspect the business end is often a simple indicator of overall cooler quality. More practically speaking, a heatsink is in many ways only as effective as the contact it makes with the processor - the flatter and smoother the better. Base finish is one of the criteria that Frostytech measure in the course of evaluating heatsinks, and it involves two distinct aspects. Surface Finish is the first; this is calculated with the aid of Surface Roughness Comparator that has a cross section of common machine surface finishes and their numerical surface roughness equivalents in microinches. The second is Surface Flatness. This is tested with an engineers straight edge or proven flat surface, in two axis.

The exposed heatpipe base of the Titan Hati TTC-NC15TZ heatsink has a surface roughness of approximately ~32 microinches. The base has been machined with a slight ridged surface finnish, perhaps on purpose as manufacturers like Noctua do. In any case the base stands up perfectly flat in both axis next to an engineers straight edge. The copper heatpipes and aluminum sections are also completely level.
