From the starting gate we
find the Vantec Aeroflow puts up very strong initial results. The heatsink will ultimately settle a little lower
down in the list of reference heatsinks, but it is nice to see that Vantec are
actually developing performance class heatsinks instead of simple OEM coolers with more and more copper.

In third place among this list of reference heatsinks
is a remarkable position for this heatsink from Vantec. In the past few
months, other heatsinks we have seen from this manufacturer have done well, but
not to this degree. The Aeroflow combines a winning heatsink design where
exhaust air is driven out from the the heatsink at the base, and where a copper
core helps to move thermal energy more efficiently.
We
have generally always seen higher performance from heatsinks derived from the original Thermosonic
design of a few years ago; the main reason being that the design
is efficient. Bottom line, Vantec have a winner with the VA4C7040 Aeroflow
heatsink, and have proven they are still very much a heatsink company!
