Bitspower NP60CS Copper Skive Heatsink Review
Bitspower NP60CS Copper Skive Heatsink Review

Abstract: So far this is the first all copper heatsink Bitspower have brought to the table, and as far as a first run goes, the NP60CS works quite well.

The Bitspower NP60CS uses a 20mm thick 60mm fan that produced a moderate amount of noise -but nothing really that bad. To listen to this heatsink anyway, click on the pair of headphones. There was a lot of static in this recording for some reason, so don't pay much attention to the waveform image as it is really unrepresentative.

I was a bit surprised by just how high the Bitspower NP60CS was able to rank in the initial set of test results above. Given the performance of their previous all aluminum heatsinks, the NP60CS is a marked improvement in the right direction, and one that could make this manufacturer a competitive force.

Even the mighty OCZ Gladiator falls victim to the Bitspower NP60CS. The only reason why the Gladiator still remains in position four of this list of reference coolers is that it performs better on the larger interface die. In those cases, the Bitspower is limited, and fall short a few degrees, but not out of spec all things considered.

For a small manufacturer it looks like Bitspower have a very good heatsink on their hands, not-quite a high performance heatsink, but still a very good cooler, and one worth considering next time you look over those shelves of heatsinks at your local computer shop. Given the OEM relationship that many companies enjoy, I would expect the NP60CS to be pretty economical, and offer a very good price/performance ratio.
