Information on Frostytech's test methodology is available here.

The primary fan is 25x92x92mm in size and PWM controlled. It rotates at 800-2400RPM while a secondary fan of equal size spins at a fixed 1200RPM. Both are illuminated by blue LEDs. Power is supplied by one 4-pin PWM compliant fan cable. The CTC-868 heatsink stands 140mm tall, so it should easily fit within most computer cases. The heatsink has rather stubby cooling fins, and four 6mm diameter copper heatpipes working to conduct heat from the base on up.

Two 37mm wide wings are shown in notch one and notch two. A 92mm fan is set within each, in a push-pull configuration so airflow moves in one direction only (ie. both fans are blowing left-to-right, not towards the center). The base of the Auras CTC-868 heatsink is part extruded aluminum (top section) and part copper (bottom section. Each fin is 0.3mm thick and spaced 2.5mm apart at the widest.

The view from the side with one wing closed and then open to the second notch, illustrates how airflow remains generally directed toward the center semi-circle of cooling fins. The fins are 33mm long, configured in a radial pattern with the heatpipes set along the outer edges.

The copper base plate measures 36x36mm in size. It has a smooth surface texture and is generally flat in both axis. The bulk of the Auras CTC-868 heatsink is raised 50mm above the base, but this decreases as the wings are opened. Some motherboards with large MOSFET or Northbridge cooling solutions may present an obstruction. At the top of the Auras CTC-868 there is a 35mm gap with no cooling fins.
