Information on Frostytech's test methodology is available here.
The Heatsink Fan:
The speed of the 120x120x25mm fan can be controlled from 700-1600RPM. Airflow ranges from 28-62CFM, and since the fan is not protected with a wire grill you'd best be sure no errant wires are nearby. The fan draws power from a standard 3-pin motherboard connector that supports RPM monitoring.

Heatsink Top:
The fan is held in position with spring wire clips. The heatlane heatpipe pops through the mass of cooling fins at the top, before curving back down towards the copper base of the heatsink.

Heatsink Side A:
The 52 (x4 sets) thin aluminum fins measure roughly 33 x 63mm in size. Each fin is 0.3mm thick and spaced 1.8mm apart. This is a fairly fine fin-pitch for a low noise heatsink, but given the overall size works well. There is also a small extruded aluminum heatsink soldered to the base of the heatsink for a little added cooling capability.

Heatsink Side B:
The entire Scythe Shogun heatsink is large, and it should really only be used in a suitably sized computer case. The aluminum fins and heatlane heatpipe have all been nickel plated to facilitate soldering. The heatsink is pictured here without any of the mounting hardware installed, but with the amount of overhang by the cooling fins it should be obvious that some orientations will make installing this heatsink rather tricky.

Heatsink Base:
The copper base plate measures 50x42mm in size and 4mm thick, it is soldered directly to the heatlane heatpipe for optimal heat transfer. The copper surface has been machined very flat, and has a surface roughness of ~16 microinches.
