I'm not sure if the 80mm Delta fans are better than the 60mm Delta fans or just about even acoustically. It's true that the small 60mm fans have a significantly higher pitch to their wail, but the 80mm ones aren't exactly silent either. When given the option between the two noise signatures I would have to side with the latter. At least with the larger 80mm fans you should be able to get away with the noise by simply sticking the case far under a desk. The spikes in the image below are where static got into the recording thanks to a loose connection somewhere. Most of the noise generated by this fan on the MCX462 is simply air moving through the many pins.

The Swiftech MCX462 comes in at first place, but the Arkua cooler is close at hand. Given the larger mass of the MCX462 is this is not altogether unsurprising to see. It also happens to use a much larger fan than the Arkua cooler, but one that is also a bit quieter I reckon. Let's move ahead to see what the final results are.
