Swiftech MCX462 Heatsink From All Angles
The Fan:
One lead from this large 38mm thick 80mm fan goes to the motherboard fan header for RPM monitoring, and the others go to a molex connector to supply power. As this fan draws 0.87A of juice it would probably burn out a motherboard over time. The Delta fan spins at about 4800RPM and pushes roughly 68CFM of air. It would have been nice to see a fan grill included along with the MCX462, rather than leaving the fan open.

Heatsink Top:
If you really want to count, you should find that there are 371 aluminum pins measuring ~2.15mm in diameter. When the fan is mounted to the four stainless steel posts the base is flush to the pin tips. Each of the pins are spaced 1.25mm apart and textured from 3mm below the top all the way to the base with a ridging similar to that of a screw thread. This texturing improves surface area and helps create turbulence amongst the many pins. The fan mounting holes are designed to accept 80mm fans only.

Side A:
Measuring 77mm tall, and 77mm wide the MCX462 is quite the 'little' cooler. The copper base is 9.3mm thick. Each of the four corners are cut away to help improve the fit of the MCX462 on motherboards where capacitors are located near by. The aluminum fins are 29mm in height... the fan is 38mm in height.
Side B:
The stainless steel H-bar is what the fan attaches to on either side of the heatsink. Since this adapter is riveted to the copper base there is no chance of substituting a smaller frame for say a 60mm fan. The copper base is undercut by 2mm to allow clearance over the socket cam arm. Note the cut away corners for improved clearance around closely placed capacitors.
Heatsink Base:
The copper base is finished very finely and passed our engineers straight edge test with perfect scores. Surface finish is incredibly smooth but not polished. Take a good look, this is a classic Swiftech base, and not something you are likely to see on too many other heatsinks in the world. Also note that the fan mount frame is simply riveted to the copper base.
