Molex 71660003 Heatsink Perspectives

The Fan:
The fan is 50mm wide and only 10m thick - very slim. The 7-bladed fan pushes air into the aluminum folded-fins at about 4800RPM. The fan connects to the motherboard via a three-pin connector, and has a lead for RPM monitoring. It is difficult to tell if it is a sleeve bearing or ball bearing based motor.

Side A:
The heatsink is comprised of three basic components. The fan and black plastic shroud, the aluminum and copper heatsink, and the clip. The folded aluminum section is made up of 28 open-ended sections. Each section has a 5x5mm opening at the side of the base. The green thumb grip is very easy to use.

Heatsink Base:
You start to get a sense of how this heatsink works by looking at the base of it. The central copper core is 23mm in diameter, and the aluminum sections extend a further 15mm from the outset. The base is perfectly flat, and very smooth from the machining operations. The stainless steel clip is not too stiff to engage, and locks all of the components in place.
