Overall Rating:   0%
Abstract: The forked-fins of this heatsink make it pretty evolutionary for its class; especially considering Intel's recently announced bifurcated reference heatsink for the socket 775 Tejas-FMB1.

The initial test results for the Thermal Integration TI-RV104N are excellent! By the look of those synthetic temperature test numbers, the TI-RV104N will be one of the best performance heatsinks for the Pentium 4 platform we have tested to date. Let's skip ahead to the final rise above ambient test results to see how this heatsink really performs!

As they say, "test results are worth a thousand words." Looking at the temperature results for the Thermal Integration TI-RV104N on the 100W synthetic temperature test, we can plainly see that this is a high level performance heatsink for the Pentium 4 socket 478 platform.

Apart from the design of the heatsink, with its 39mm copper core and bifurcated extruded aluminum fins, the other main benefit is how the cooler exhausts air directly over the processor. This added bit of cooling may not seem as important as that which is accomplished with the copper and aluminum, but I think this is the edge that puts the TI-RV104N so close to the top.

Were the heatsink a little less noisy - say in the 40 dB range, it would be a winner on all fronts. Still, even though we are speaking about upwards of 53dBA of sound, the Thermal Integration TI-RV104N heatsink would definitely make a superb heatsink choice for anyone looking to keep temperatures down low, irregardless of noise levels.
