There are some motor noises with this fan and heatsink combo, but as you can see from the graph below they are fairly minor and not very distracting. Sound Level Measurements:

Listening to the actual noise a heatsink makes allows you to hear what pure numbers alone cannot get across. To further emphasize FrostyTech's reliance on cold hard facts when evaluating a heatsink, we also take Decibel readings with a sound level meter. These results may be higher than the manufacturer's listed specs, but then again these are real world measurements. Measurements are made on the dB (A) scale.

The heatsink measures in at 47.2 dB, a low sound output by most accounts. Much of the noise that is generated comes from airflow, but the whine of the motor cannot be discounted either. On the positive side, the acoustics are low so this heatsink would tend to drowned out in a standard case. Up next, thermal results.
