Performance is looking pretty good for this copper skived heatsink with temperature controlled 80mm fan. The Globalwin CAK4-88T comes in just under 70 degrees on our 100W test which is not bad at all.

Let's have a look at the final rise above ambient temperature results to see where things really stand.

True enough, the Globalwin CAK4-88T exhibits some very good near-performance level cooling capabilities. The solid, one-piece skived copper heatsink conducts heat very well, and with the fan adaptor and 80mm fan the heatsink doesn't seem to suffer whatsoever. The bar for high-end performance coolers (which are also really loud and annoying) has been raised lately, but keep in mind that the CAK4-88T is a heck of a lot quieter than either of the Thermalright heatsinks, so it is easily recommendable.

Breaking it down to the finer points, the Globalwin CAK4-88T is a very good performing heatsink for the socket A platform. With a full-copper skived heatsink base, and the larger 80mm and 70-80mm fan adaptor Globalwin seem to have a winning combination. The only bad marks against its' performance is the lack luster clip, which requires the use of a screwdriver, and which really ought to engage on all three tabs of the socket 462 retention system.

One other point is important to consider. Since the manufacturer of the fan has used heatshrink tubing around the solder joint of the thermistor there is an area which is larger than the thickness of the sensor itself - care must be taken so that this point doesn't wedge the actual sensor in a great big open space between two copper fins or the system will not work as it should. The thermistor should be in direct contact with one of the copper fins.
