Tocools Crown Heatsink From All Angles
The Fan:
Most 80mm fans we have seen in operation were YS Tech, but the Crown breaks the trend and uses a Delta. The 25mm thick fan draws 0.51A and benefits the user by being a bit quieter in operation than standard 60mm fans are typically. While this fan will connect via 3-pin cable to the fan header on the motherboard, I'd play it safe and hook it up to a y-splitter and Molex pass-thru.

Heatsink Top:
With 18 fins machined from a solid block of aluminum the thermal properties of the metal are going to be very uniform. Each fin measures 1mm thick, and is spaced 2mm apart from one another. At first glance the Tocools Crown employs a pretty standard cooling method. The real trick happens where the fins make contact with the base of the heatsink. Rather then just meeting the base plate at 90 degrees like all extruded heatsinks do, the base is angled up at the center, down to the edges. Essentially the base is shaped like an elongated triangle.

Side A:
The clip used on the Crown is primitive, and is in fact laser cut from a stainless steel sheet. I'd expect the production version to use a more advanced clipping system which is easier to maneuver (this one is rather difficult to use). The fan attaches to the heatsink by two small aluminum supports which are screwed into the side of the heatsink. Both fan and heatsink are 80mm wide.
Side B:
Unless you really look carefully you won't notice that the fins go right down to where the base should be, but isn't. This clever trick pushes exhaust air down and out to either side. The model we have here used some rather large screws to keep the 80mm fan in place. The heatsink itself is only 62mm wide in this direction, and 33m tall.
Heatsink Base:
This is a prototype cooler so there is a lot of machining marks evident. The base finish however, is very well done having been machined smooth and flat. Notice how the vertical fins come all the way through to the base of the heatsink making good used of downward exhaust air. The fins are spaced with about 2mm of distance between one another. The base area measures 52x50mm
