Zalman CNPS6500-AlCu Heatsink From All Angles
The Fan:

There are 53 fins in total on the CNPS6500AlCu model, and each fin is about 53x68x0.5mm. The center section has 8 copper fins which have been placed there to gather as much heat from the processor as possible, and move it up and out for dispersal. A t the circumference, the fins are spaced ~2mm apart.

Side A: To improve circulation, and increase surface area, Zalman have perforated the fins with five 3x41mm slots. A few creeses have been added to the soft aluminum fins to give them a bit more rigidity, and the tops have been scalloped. The two bolts which hold the many pieces together are stainless steel, and the side aluminum flanges are used during mounting.
Side B:
From this side, you can really see how Zalman put the whole thing together. The central copper section (4mm wide) helps to improve thermal transfer, and the lightweight aluminum fins disperse the heat to the surrounding environment.

Heatsink Base:

Zalman have always finished their heatsinks with nice smooth flat bases. Since the fins are wider than previous Zalman heatsinks, we noticed that is important not to drop the heatsink upside down on a hard surface. Doing so may very slightly dislodge one or two of the fins so they stand up above the surface and affect proper mounting. Generally speaking, only a very small amount of good quality thermal compound should be applied.
