Abstract: Hyperbole aside, the Raijintek Ereboss heatsink is built around six 6mm diameter copper heatpipes which weave their way up from a nickel-plated copper base plate to a voluminous aluminum fin stack measuring 105mm tall and 112x140mm wide.

Information on Frostytech's test methodology is available here.

The Ereboss heatsink stands 159mm tall and has a boxy 140x126mm footprint. Each of the six 6mm diameter copper heatpipes extends from the base to the top of the 105mm fin stack. Each aluminum fin measures 0.4mm thick and is spaced 3mm apart.

The bottom cooling fin is elevated 45mm above the CPU socket. The base incorporates a 5mm thick nickel plated copper heatspreader and 10mm thick aluminum block to distribute clamping forces.

The nickel plated copper base plate measures 40x42mm in size. Looking at the bottom of the cooler, the body of the Ereboss heatsink extends ~45mm up, ~62mm down and ~70mm left / right.

Base Finish and Flatness

Flipping a heatsink over to inspect the business end is often a simple indicator of overall cooler quality. More practically speaking, a heatsink is in many ways only as effective as the contact it makes with the processor - the flatter and smoother the better. Base finish is one of the criteria that Frostytech measure in the course of evaluating heatsinks and it involves two distinct aspects. Surface finish is the first; this is calculated with the aid of Surface Roughness Comparator that has a cross section of common machine surface finishes and their numerical surface roughness equivalents in microinches. The second is surface flatness. This is tested with an engineer's straight edge or proven flat surface, in two axes.

The base of the Raijintek Ereboss heatsink is convex in both axes so it doesn't make 100% contact with a completely flat CPU die in our tests. The nickel plated copper surface has a smooth, polished surface finish. Surface roughness is at or better than ~8 microinches, which is excellent.
