EE Times has a good article about Intel's Itanium and Timna processors, and Willamette microarchitecture. Apparently Intel has made plans to release all three this year. If that comes to fruition that could make quite a stir in the chip business. One intersting point was how Intel appears to be positioning itself in "value, performance and high-end-server portions of the computer marketplace." H'mm is AMD really kicking its butt that well on the PC processor stage...? They also say the wireless home network known as HomeRF is due to be shown soon. Cat-5 makers begin to quiver in other news.
