A-DATA S501 128GB Marvell Controlled 400MB/s Preview - FrostyTech.com A-DATA S501 128GB Marvell Controlled 400MB/s Preview
Wed Jun 23, 2010 | 12:00P| PermaLink
"With the solid state market moving faster than Han Solo trying to escape a fleet of Star Destroyers, we have some instant breaking news for you. It appears that Marvell has reworked their SATA 6G SSD controller and paired it with 128MB of DDR3 cache memory. At the time of writing it looks like the new controller will be able to run in 64, 128, 256 and a massive 512GB capacity configuration. A-DATA allowed us to shut down a portion of their Computex Booth today for a few hours so we could run some of our standard benchmarks on the new A-DATA S501 pre-production drive. We have to give them a big “Thank You” for allowing this test to take place. Hundreds of people were flowing through the booth and we want to say sorry to those that wanted to see the new drive, but were not able to since we were taking up the space."

CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus - FrostyTech.com CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus
Thu Jun 25, 2009 | 5:58P| PermaLink
"From a strict performance outlook, the Hyper 212 Plus did alright not losing by much, so it's not a bad cooler. However, I feel that with what it was compared to, it could have stood up a bit better even with 3°C variance in most of the tests. Still, I was impressed by a lot with this heatsink. The versatility of it only requiring a single backplate and retention bracket while covering such a wide array of socket types (AM2, AM3, 939, 775, 1156, 1366) is what impressed me. Again, like the XT-1264 however, there are gaps between the heatpipes where heat could be trapped but on a more positive note it is good to see companies trying to get it so the heatpipes come in direct contact with the CPU die."
