Asian thermal solutions manufacturer CoolJag (Chia Cherne Company Ltd) has developed a new type of skived aluminum cooling fin for heatsinks, called the "yo-fin". Cooljag's new skiving technology bifurcates the backside of individual skived fins every 2-5mm, effectively increasing surface area by several fold. In tests done at the companies' Taipei headquarters with identical heatsinks, Cooljag were able to improve results for a 97W heat load, on average by 4° over a range of 9.7 to 25CFM.
The Cooljag yo-fin skived aluminum fin technology was announced at Computex 2009. As of yet there are no heatsinks based on the multi-bifucated skived aluminum fin technology available, but rest assured Frostytech is in talks with Cooljag to practical example in our labs for testing.
