"I, myself, learnt an invaluable lesson that remains with me: that open systems, whether based on open standards or open sources, are superior to closed systems. The CDless policy that Microsoft has imposed on the OEMs will eventually backfire and ensure that success of the Alternative Software movement; in particular, LINUX and BeOS. It's the height of temerarious hubris by the OEMs and Microsoft to return us to the early 60s when hardware and software would only work in closed or restricted architectures."
