"Long time motherboard maker, ASUS, is the first to market with a Pentium 4 motherboard. Their new P4T sports the newly released Intel I850 chipset. As you know from reading our Pentium Guide last month, this new chip platform uses a "quad-pumped" bus speed of 400Mhz. Quite simply put, it's the fastest bus speed to ever hit the PC platform. ASUS is expecting good things this coming year for the P4 platform, and it shows in their commitment to not only be first to market, but to also build a solid board that can help be a catalyst as Intel launches this chip into new OEM and retail market space.
For a quick recap concerning the I850, it supports RDRAM memory, a 400Mhz bus, UDMA 100 IDE, and is designed for the Socket 423. The Socket 423 is the new socket design spec'd by Intel, however, we expect it to be replaced in the 2nd quarter of 2001."
