ECS develops dual memory motherboards / Ken 6:00am GMT
Memory chip manufacturers such as Micron and Samsung are trying to encourage
motherboard and chipset makers to produce DDR-compatible products as soon as
possible. However, as DDR memory is currently more than triple the cost of
SDRAM, many manufacturers are hesitant to make the switch. As a solution to
this problem, ECS and some other motherboard makers, are planning to make
motherboards that will accommodate both DDR and SDRAM, believing these dual
memory boards will become the biggest sellers on the market. ECS will soon
produce boards that provide 2 DIMM sockets for SDRAM, as well as 2 DIMM
sockets for DDR memory - details available soon.
