Iiyama has kicked one of their newest 19" monitors out to us for our inspection, so we put it up to the good old eyeball test to see how it stacks up. The i90A is the middle child of Iiyama's lineup of 19" monitors, utilizing Mitsubishi's Diamondtron NF (Natural Flat) tube. The higher-end VisionMaster Pro 451 also uses a Diamondtron NF CRT, and the lower-priced 19", the S900, uses a shadow-mask CRT.
Using a flat-front CRT has been the hallmark of the more expensive monitors in the recent past, but prices have dropped dramatically. A year ago, even 17" flat-front CRT cost over $500, but now we can find this particular 19" monitor for less than $500. With this drop in pricing across the board, and with almost every manufacturer out there, large monitors are becoming more accessible to computer users. Soon, there should be no reason for anyone to own a 15" monitor other than space considerations.
