Intel has predicted that it will secure aroudnd 3-5% marketshare. VIA
predicts that it will be able to launched it's P4 DDR chipset PX266 in 1-2Q
2001. SiS Technologies also will also announce 645 in Q4 2001. ALi will also
be launching it's P4 DDR chipset in Q3-Q3 2001. It looks like VIA will be
the first to announce it's DDR chipset for P4.
Currently, P4 is paired up with Intel's 850 chipset which uses RAMBUS DRAM.
Intel will be announcing in Q3 2001 the Northwood, which uses Socket 478.
Because of the difference in packaging, chipset will be smaller. The current
P4 chipsets are thus regarded as a transitional temporarily solution.
