What's interesting though is just how the major proponents of specific DVD standards has changed like legions changing sides in the middle of a war on the battlefield. In late 1999, many thought that DVD-RAM would win the DVD war(due to its one-year development lead over DVD+RW and new consumer electronic products), but Pioneer went ahead by rolling out its very own DVD-RW player in Japan.
