"On Monday, June 26, 2000, scientists announced they had printed out the "book of life." Okay, maybe that was a bit of an overstatement, but they definitely opened up what some would call a Pandora's Box. Ironically, many of the facets of this "Box" -- such as Human Genome project funding, the patent law issues, and the uses and ownership of genetic material -- will only receive meaningless platitudes from most media sources. The rest of the Pecksniffians will probably just do a little scare mongering peppered with the proper amount of righteous indignation. But is the idea of knowing your genetic makeup really that scary?"
