GeForce 2 Pro/Ultra in-depth review - FrostyTech.com GeForce 2 Pro/Ultra in-depth review
Sun Jan 14, 2001 | 2:08P| PermaLink
To say it clearly - for sure this is not a standard review. We have tested 20 games on 30 pages! We have compared the GeForce 2 GTS, GeForce 2 Pro, GeForce 2 Ultra and Voodoo 5500 with all these games. Here are the games we've used for the comparison: Alice, Deus Ex, Drakan, Evolva, Expendable, Falcon 4, Half-Life Counterstrike, Heavy Metal Fakk2, MDK2, Mercedes Benz Truck Racing, Motocross Madness 2, Quake 2, Quake III Arena, Rune, Serious Sam Test 2, Soldier of Fortune, Start Trek Voyager: Elite Force, Ultima IX-Ascension, Unreal, Unreal Torunament. A short preview to the conclusion: GeForce Pro and GeForce Ultra are not so much ahead of the GeForce 2 GTS. You need at least a resolution of 1280*1024 to get notable fps difference. For the gamers who would like to play with such and higher resolutions, the GeForce Ultra may be the right, but expensive decision. The performance of the GeForce 2 Pro in any resolution is not that much better than the GeForce 2 GTS's. So the Pro is not recommended in our opinion.
