We get to take a look at another Philips product today, one whose product family we've been curious about. The monitors Philips makes are somewhat of an unknown quantity to many American computer users, even with the company making a more high-profile entry into the PC peripheral market than before.
Philips provided us with a 17" model to check out first, the 107T21. There are four 17" monitors in Philips lineup, and this one is the third from the top in terms of features and price. The main attraction of this monitor is that it boasts a flat-screen CRT, called RealFlat by Philips. This is the first flat-screen CRT we've encountered that uses shadow-mask technology instead of aperture-grille technology. Shadow-mask CRT's are produced by the majority of companies that produce monitor tubes, with Sony and Mitsubishi dominating the aperture-grille segment.
