We all see the new Detonator drivers get released as often as what seems weekly. But how good are they? How much improvement is there? We have all been beat over the head with the "updating your drivers for better performance" bit. But is newer always better? What constitutes better? Raw speed and frame rates, believe it or not, are not the end all be all with driver releases. Successive versions of a driver attempt to offer better image quality, better support and compatibility to new or existing cards or chipsets. Remember the Detonators aren't just for the GeForce, they are for the TNT and TNT2s as well. This ends up being some balancing act. However, when you get down to brass tacks it boils down to (at least for me) which is the fastest with acceptable image quality, the emphasis is most definitely on speed.
