One reason why Apple has remained so popular is simply because they produced a product that appealed to the user in not just the performance arena, but also aesthetically. As a PC user, I've always hated having leading edge hardware that kicked ass on the inside but looked like complete crap on the outside. For me, style and looks is just as important as power and performance; it seems that only now are manufacturers starting to catch on to this concept of style - but just barely. To put things into perspective, you would never see Dodge put their top of the line Viper racing engine in their el'cheapo crappy looking Neon chassis (my sincere apologies to all Neon owners out there). Comparatively however, manufacturers like Dell, Compaq and Gateway will put their top of the line systems in a cheap looking, functionally useless $35 dollar case -- what's wrong with this picture?
