"If you're a hardcore geek, or don't really care much about sound quality and you're always looking for anything cool to add to yer PC, this is definitely a toy for you! It's just too damn cool a unit to pass on! A cool looking VFD dancing to the sounds from your PC and also a nice chrome and blue buttons will definitely make yer tricked-out case the attention of your friends! Plus, with the built-in hardware-based FM Tuner function, there's no need for those PCI radio cards too! For the casual PC user, the EQ effects and the SRS TruSurround adds a little punch to your music, MP3s and movie playbacks but unfortunately, for the hardcore audiophile, you're better off with true hardware-based decoders. If you already have a good sound card, like the Sound Blaster Live! series and a good 4-point or 5.1 speaker set to match, the NewQ Platinum does little to further improve on the output. The NewQ Platinum also carries a hefty price tag. At US$149 (without external power adapter), it's not exactly cheap. But then again, if you have the moolah, I ain't stopping you. :o)"
