"For years I thought all desk jobs, including computer programming, were 9 to 5 propositions. You put in your eight hours and go home. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out people -- like computer programmers -- were putting in 60-hour workweeks or more. Some employees I talk to have fallen into hopeless despair because of their "exempt" status, and they don't think they can do anything about their condition. However, with a little bit of information in their hands, they might realize that they do have rights."
