Just a few months ago, February to be exact, we brought you our coverage of Intel's new heavy hitter, the Pentium 4. At the time it was running at 1.5Ghz and was continuing to struggle since it's debut in November of 2000. Today, we bring you the release of the 1.7Ghz Pentium 4 processor and we have a plethora of benchmarks to see if it can help close the gap between the Athlon and Pentium.
The Pentium 4's performance has not been what most people expected, except for Quake III: Arena - gaming performance. We will look at all the benchmarks from different application perspectives and tackle the task of breaking them down for you.
