The GeForce and GeForce 2 family of graphics processors took 3D gaming to new levels with each successive upgrade, and led to image and gaming quality that was only a dream a few years ago. Now the GeForce 3 gives us another quantum leap forward. This processor, previously known by it's NVIDIA codename of NV20, is not an upgrade of the existing line, but a whole new product that introduces new processes and unheard of degrees of accuracy. The graphics processing unit, or GPU as it is more usually known, features over 57 million transistors, built on a 0.15 micron fabrication process. To put that into some kind of context a Pentium 133 CPU had around 3 million transistors - this is an incredibly powerful piece of hardware!
