I'm sure all of us would just love to get our hands on the new Intel 2.2GHz P4, but just can't seem to the get our hands on the money it takes to secure such a speed demon. Pentium 4 systems were always considered to be an expensive choice for the person looking for the best bang for the buck. For one thing, they required more expensive RAMBUS, and the number of high performance P4 motherboards were few and far between. No to mention the cooler options were pretty weak as well.
Things have changed a lot for Intel P4. Now, there are P4 motherboards that not only support RAMBUS but DDR and SDRAM as well. And the number of big cooler that support Socket 478 have increased. The P4 itself has also changed for the better. The new P4A is now built using a .13u process. This die shink allows the P4 run a lot cooler and reach speeds as high 2.2Ghz. Also the L2 cache has doubled in size to 512K, giving a nice performance boost.
