Overall, it isn't everyday that you find Toshiba launching a notebook that spins convention and puts a Touchpad on its palm-rest. It is also unusual that for a notebook this light, you're getting a modular bay plus ports for Firewire, USB, two Type-II PCMCIA cards and a VGA-out port. If you're on the lookout for something below 2kg, has a respectable video chipset (ATI) and performs respectably well in business applications (SysMark 2001, WinStone 99), the Satellite 31 CDT should at least be a model in your shopping wishlist.
