The PFC, or power factory correction, is Zalman's way to say that the PSU has a high efficiency and low heat emission. A transformer, as the PSU is, cannot have a 100% efficiency so it transforms some energy in heat. Now, this means that you have less power output and you need to take care of the heat, spending more energy in running a fan. Increasing the efficiency makes the PSU more effective energy-wise, and with less heat to dissipate you can use a quieter fan. You can achieve this only through the use of very high quality components, and a lot of them.
