At last, the long promised ABIT KR7A is here. It is really a long wait since Computex in June 2001. Well it seems that the wait is worthwhile as ABIT skipped the KT266 chipset and went straight into the KT266A chipset (A is always better). I have tested the board and it definitely proves itself a very reliable and powerhorse even when used in normal conditions.
In our tests, we used the new Athlon XP1500+ and ran it under the tightest RAM timings we could. It went through all the rigorous tests at default speed. In fact, we stress the system further by pushing it to 150Mhz and above.
Before we continue, lets take a look at the package. Packaged in the new red/white box. It comes standard with a user's manual, HotRod100Pro drivers disk, FDD andHDD cables and a CDROM. The BIOS that comes with the board is dated 7 Nov 2001. Below are the specifications of the board. The subsequent pages will be the gallery followed by benchmark results including SuperPI, Q3, DroneZ etc.
