"The AMD Athlon processor can be found in many computers these days, from off the shelf models to high performance custom built systems like mine. But fast just isn't fast enough, now is it? AMD knows that some of its more knowledgeable customers, that would be those of us who build and/or overclock, would like to push their CPU's further than the rated specs. For that reason they added a set of 40 pins on the upper section of the Athlon that could be utilized to overclock the processor. What we have today is a GFD (Gold Finger Device) that uses these pins to change the CPU multiplier and voltage."
