"Creative have designed their current range of sound cards in a way so that they have a model to suit almost everyone. If you can't afford, or don't require the added connectors on the Livedrive II, the SB Live! Player 1024 is basically the Platinum without the Livedrive II. It has a digital connector too, and can be upgraded to the Livedrive at a later date. It is also very cheap, and excellent value for a card with its features."
