"DVD decoders are what take the decoding load of your cpu. Even if you have an
extremely fast cpu, these are necessary to watch a good movie. Hardware decoders
are just like 3d cards, they fit neatly in a PCI slot. When looking for a MPEG2
decoder, try to spot one with a lot of features and a good price tag. Generally,
a Creative Dxr2 or DXr3 will do the trick much nicely."
