Abit's KA7-100 - FrostyTech.com Abit's KA7-100
Sun Aug 20, 2000 | 2:25A| PermaLink
"Last month, we tested Abit's KA7-100, and tried to determine how well it performed with a 700 MHz AMD Slot A Thunderbird. For the most part it performed very well, despite AMD's claims of compatibility issues with the VIA's KX-133 chipset and their new TBird. We did experience problems overclocking via the front side bus, but at spec and even overclocked with a Golden Fingers Device, the combination proved to be very stable and fast. Since then we have received a fair bit of mail from KA7 and KA7-100 owners who could not get their systems to boot with a high clocked TBird. Fortunately, if you forked over several hundred dollars on a 900 MHz or 1 GHz Slot A TBird, you do have some alternatives. One of the most popular and, thankfully, inexpensive alternatives is MSI's K7 Pro, an older board based upon AMD's 750 chipset."
