Dynamics Resonance Absorber - FrostyTech.com Dynamics Resonance Absorber

"The second item is a little piece of technology that Pioneer added to the drive, something they call DRA or Dynamics Resonance Absorber. This allows the drive to spin at higher speeds with less vibration than other manufacturer's competing drives, thus allowing the drive to be more accurate in reading media at higher speeds. In addition, this feature also provides for more accurate reading of not-so-well maintained media, for example, that Q3A disc of yours that never quite makes it back into a holder or sleeve, and now looks like you've taken a nasty piece of sandpaper to it. I have a UT disc like that. I have to manually lower the speed of my Asus 50X CD-ROM (neat little feature of that drive) to below 12X or it will not install properly. I popped that same disc into the DVD-115 and it ran at full tilt during the install, no problems. Handy, no?"
