"AMD's Athlon has become a popular chip among overclockers. The lack of a
multiplier lock has made it possible to easily overclock these chips
without seriously affecting the PCI or AGP buses. Intel's multiplier lock
forces overclockers to adjust the front side bus speed, which puts the PCI
and AGP buses out of spec, and can, in some circumstances, damage cards or
corrupt data on a hard drive. The Athlon is not multiplier locked, but
changing the multiplier is not an easy task, as it was on the older AMD
chips. This tutorial will cover the basics of Athlon overclocking,
including the various methods employed, and the tools required. "
