Abstract: Thermaltake's TFCFR06 "1U-Orb" was originally released sometime around the days of the golden Orb so it will be interesting to see how it stands up.

The 1U Orb at first appears to be following in the footsteps of the DTFCF0141, but not quite as well. At 112 degrees Celsius on the 100W small interface die test this little heatsink was really hot - so hot that we began to wonder if the fan would start to melt where it came in contact with the aluminum!

Compared to the other 1U coolers here, the Thermaltake 1U heatsinks (both the extruded and Orb) don't seem to be performing particularly well on the higher end tests.

The only respectable results are shown on the 50W tests, and specifically the small interface die test. The results of the Thermaltake 1U Orb on either the large copper interface die, or the small one at 100W are very poor.

Obviously, from these results we can see that the 1U orb is an older design, intended for older processors. With that in mind, the 100W tests are really not fair as such, but they do illustrate quite clearly that what was once good may now be dangerous for your processor. Small die processors which produce less than 50W of heat energy however could see use with the 1U orb, but that is about it.
