The fan on the Bitspower NP80D is moderatly noisy, but by no means a really ear-sore. Perhaps BitsPower's choice to stay with only a 20mm thick fan is a better move than we had previously thought? If they had gone with the 60mm Delta - a fan easily available just about anywhere if you want to upgrade your heatsink - they would have been a lot noisier. While this makes no difference to some of you, we here at FrostyTech have to wear headphones when we test heatsinks - else we might be deaf by now!

Compared to its smaller brother, the NP80D comes in quite respectably among the list of reference coolers. Could it be that the skive construction is more efficient than copper and larger fans combined? Before we move on to the more accurate rise above ambient temperature results take a look at the results of the NP60D. Size does matter :-)
