8 KingCooler Thermal buster 25.7 57.5 68.8 AOS 52029KY yellow 1 none stiff

The GlobalWin WBK-38 appears to come in just a scratch behind the Vantec FCE-62540D in this first set of results. The solid copper Blizzard S370-L falls in after the GlobalWin only because of how it performed in on the large copper die template test. Rounding out the rest of list are the Thermaltake heatsinks, the Lil' Turbine Neng Tyi and the Thermal buster. Of all the heatsinks in this test, the GlobalWin and the Vantec have the highest RPM fans of the bunch. This obviously plays a significant role in their leading the pack.

Comparably the Blizzard Copper S370-L is equipped with a slim 60mm fan and is very quiet. True it has that copper edge, but I'd bet if you strapped on a 6800RPM fan it would have a good chance at kicking out both the Vantec FCE-62540D and GlobalWin WBK-38.

The rise above ambient temperature figures are usually a better gauge of the overall performance of the test heatsinks so lets proceed there now.

Rise Above Ambient Temperature (C)
Mfg. Model with large block with small block
1 GlobalWin WBK-38 18.9 24.4
2 Vantec FCE-62540D 19.3 25.0
4 Blizzard S370-L 26.6 28.9
5 Thermaltake Volcano II 25.2 26.7
6 Thermaltake SuperOrb 23.6 34.5
7 Coolermaster CH5-5K12 27.1 38.2
8 Neng Tyi P36601 26.5 42.9
9 KingCooler Thermal buster 32.0 43.1

The rise above ambient temperature results always seem to clarify situations where heatsinks are too close together to really call. As was the case with the Global Win and the Vantec. After crunching the number, the ambient temperatures were such that the GlobalWin comes out on top of the Vantec, if only by a degree or so.

While it would really be over kill to use the WBK-38 on a PGA or K6-2 processor we include those results anyway. There are still a heck of a lot of Celeron 366@550 out there in the good ol' dually Abit BP6 ;-) In terms of pure small copper die template performance the Blizzard comes out on top, with the WBK-38 in close tow. The rest of the heatsinks in the comparison managed to stay pretty much exactly where they were.
