FrostyTech Mk.III Synthetic Thermal Heatsink Test Results
Intel Core i7, Extreme Edition class heatsinks tested at a 200W heat load.
Results based on readings from a 38x38mm copper interface die with 200W heat load on the Intel version of the Mk.III Test Platform. Temperature results listed for each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise over ambient temperatures at time of test. Information on Frostytech's test methodology is available here.

*Heatsinks are ranked according to the 200W Thermal Test results column (rise over ambient temp.). Low temperatures with low noise levels are considered best. For reference heatsinks with variable-speed fans, only the high speed (12V) fan test result is included in the comparison sheet; more detailed results reside in each specific heatsink review.

Frostytech's most recent synthetic thermal test platform stresses Intel socket LGA2011 and LGA1366 compatible heatsinks with a 200W heat load. Additionally, because the AMD Integrated Heat Spreader and Intel LGA2011 IHS both measure ~38x38mm, these test results can be extrapolated to AMD processor scenarios.

With a 200W heat load applied by the Intel LGA2011/1366 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, Raijintek's Pallas heatsink yielded a good temperature test result of 22.2°C over ambient at stock fan speed. Decreasing the 140x150mm PWM fan from 1400RPM to 650RPM caused the synthetic CPU die to increase to an unsatisfactory temperature result of 42.9°C over ambient, however.

Clearly, Raijintek's Pallas heatsink is best suited to LGA2011 processor cooling at full fan speed. If the fan moves less than the necessary threshold of air past the heatsinks' narrow aluminum cooling fins, temperatures quickly rise.

Ultimately, the low profile Raijintek Pallas heatsink proved itself very capable on both 150W Intel and 125W AMD platforms at stock fan speed. In the 85W TDP test in particular, the Raijintek Pallas did demonstrate itself as reliable, even with the fan slowed to 650RPM....

Where sub-70mm heatsinks are considered exclusively, Raijintek's Pallas comes out on top, seconded by Zalman's CNPS8900 Extreme in both the AMD 125W and Intel LG115x/775 charts. There are no other sub-70mm tall heatsinks in the LGA2011 thermal test chart, so the Pallas wins the crown here... for the time being. Fan speed caveats aside, the Raijintek Pallas heatsink is well worth your consideration.
