Information on Frostytech's test methodology is available here.
The Heatsink Fan:
The 80x80x25mm fan is affixed to a blue aluminum fan shroud which wraps around the front and top of the Verticool II heatsink. When installing this heatsink on AMD K8 processors, the fan will need to be removed first as it blocks access to one of the mounting screws (shown here with LGA775 clips installed). The UV-reactive impeller rotates at 2300RPM, producing in the region 25CFM. It draws power from a standard 3-pin motherboard connector that supports RPM monitoring. The fan wires are also sheathed.

Heatsink Top:
The ~45 thin aluminum fins measure roughly 95 x 65mm in size. Each fin is 0.3mm thick and spaced 1.5mm apart. There is a 7-3mm plenum created right behind the fan by the gradual indentation of the leading edges of the aluminum fins. Also note the fan shroud it tooled to accept 70mm fans.

The LGA775 and K8 clips are held in place with a small screw into the copper base. A stiff steel support on the top is resilient enough to resist the force loads during installation. Furthermore, each mounting screw is spring tensioned.

Heatsink Side A:
From above, the blue fan shroud adds structural rigidity while offering a place to mount the fan. It does not do much to direct airflow other than creating a bit of a plenum behind the fan.

Heatsink Side B:
A sides of the Spire Verticool II heatsink are left open so exhaust airflow can exit from any of three sides. The copper base is 10mm thick, and the "U" shaped copper heatpipes measure 5mm in diameter. The bottom six aluminum fins are slightly smaller to offer clearance of components on the motherboard around the CPU socket.

The LGA775 and K8 mounting hardware swaps out in a few seconds with the aide of a screwdriver.

Heatsink Base:
The copper base is very smooth (surface roughness of about 8 microinches or better), but it is not perfectly flat. There is some slight waviness, probably due to the polishing operating - nothing that a little thermal compound can't deal with. The copper base measures 32x36mm in size so it doesn't completely cover the Athlon64 CPU integrated heat spreader either.
