Information on Frostytech's test methodology is available here.
The Heatsink Fan:
The 70x70x20mm fan rotates at 2900-to-5400RPM, depending on the temperature of the ambient air as sensed by a set of thermistors located under the fan motor. The AVC Z7UB301 fan draws power from a standard 3-pin motherboard fan header that supports RPM monitoring.

Heatsink Top:
A plastic fan shroud supports the 70mm thermally reactive fan 4mm above the fins. There are two independent sections of swaged fins, separated by 10mm of space for the clip and its workings. Each of the aluminum fins measures about 31x29mm in size.

Heatsink Side A:
The AVC Z7UB301 heatsink uses 45 aluminum fins measuring 0.4mm thick. The aluminum fins are spaced 1.3mm apart. Each fin is swaged into the copper base, and if this is done properly the aluminum fins will be held firmly in place and produce a joint with low thermal resistance.

Heatsink Side B:
The heatsink uses a clip which locks only onto the center tab of the K8 heatsink frame. The plastic cam arm rotates without the need of any tools. It locks the heatsink in place and applies the necessary pressure onto the Athlon64 processor below.

Heatsink Base:
The 7mm thick copper base plate has a sanded finish which translates into a surface roughness of ~32 microinches. The surface is pretty flat in both axis, but not perfect. The waviness in the base surface is very minimal at the center of the heatsink. The copper base ends just short on either side, so there is 9mm of aluminum fin exposed. The heatsink comes with a pre-applied patch of grey thermal compound so initial installation is a snap.
